Rocha Lake is part of the National Lake Park System since 1977
Is a food refuge for over 200 species of permanent and migratory birds and is the lake with greatest biodiversity in Uruguay. The Rocha Lake covers 2,800 square miles with an average depth of 2 feet and maximum depth of 5.5 feet.
Fishing of prawns, fish and crab, kayaking and windsurfing are some of the main activities at the Lake along with watching incredible sunsets.
La Paloma, the most important seaside resort in Rocha Province.
The lighthouse “Cabo Santa Maria” in La Paloma has been built in 1874 to prevent wrecks that were common at that time.
La Paloma has calm beaches and La Serena Beach is most popular among surfers. In winter and spring, whales can be observed close to the cost.
